It seems ridiculous to think that buying shoes online makes any sense doesn't it. Why would you do that when there is no standard shoe size between manufacturers or even the same manufacturer sometimes. How do you try them on and how do you know how they look? What if you have a wide foot or narrow foot?

There are a lot of factors that tell us, "buy your shoes at a shoe store or department store" and many make sense if only a limited amount of sense.

1. I already know the shoes I like and where to get them. 

Let's say that you buy a certain brand of shoes and you really like the brand and they fit well. Great! Now wouldn't you like to be able to buy those shoes at a considerably lower price? At least have the opportunity to compare prices without driving to 20 retail stores or at least calling them to see if they have a better price?

2. I have wide (or narrow) feet and I have such a hard time finding shoes to start with.
